The ILCCO is an international group of lung cancer researchers, established in 2004 with the aim of sharing comparable data from ongoing lung cancer case-control and cohort studies. The overall objectives are to achieve greater power, especially for subgroup analyses, reduce duplication of research effort, replicate novel findings, and afford substantial cost savings through large collaborative efforts.
ILCCO members are scientists involved in lung cancer studies with expertise in domains relevant to lung cancer research such as epidemiology, pathology, genetics and molecular biology. Members are expected to bring to the consortium their expertise, ideas and resources, including results, raw data and biological samples. Membership is effective upon notification to and confirmation of acceptance by the executive committee. Active participation in at least one working group is a requirement for maintaining membership.
